NCD – How do I change a VM's Security Identifier (SID)?

Windows 2008 VMs created from Navisite's templates, either through the Create VM process or as part of the Create vApp process, are cloned with their Windows license activated.

If such VMs are created with the Create dialog's "Change SID" box unchecked, they are assigned the same Security Identifier, or SID, as the server from which the clone originates.

However, multiple VMs with the same SID may be an issue when you later join these VMs to a domain.

To change a VM’s SID (the VM must be powered off; Change SID cannot be applied to a running or suspended VM):

1.  From the VM's detail page, "VM Config" section, use the "Change SID" cog icon to set value to Yes.

2.  Confirm recustomization through subsequent dialog.
