NCD – Replicating Your vApps and VMs Between Data Centers

Navisite Cloud Director® (NCD) integrates integrates with the Zerto Virtual Replication system, allowing you to configure the replication of virtual applications (vApps) and their virtual machines (VMs) between your NCD vCloud environments (data centers) for business continuity and disaster recovery, commonly known as "NCD-to-NCD Replication."

Zerto Virtual Replication is a hypervisor (or virtual machine monitor)-based replication application that allows you to automatically and continuously replicate application data and VM images, as well as system configurations and dependencies, in order to facilitate disaster recovery.

Launching the Zerto Virtual Replication Interface

To launch the Zerto Virtual Replication user interface:
  1. At the NCD Dashboard page, click Services in the navigation bar on the left side of the page to display the Services page.

  2. At the Services page, click NCD-to-NCD Replication to display a list of the vClouds available for replication.

  3. Click Configure in the row corresponding to the vCloud containing resources to be replicated. The Zerto Virtual Replication interface opens in a separate browser tab.

The Zerto user interface allows you to:

  • Select Navisite Cloud Director vApps for replication

  • Specify Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) values to apply

  • Group your configuration into Virtual Protection Groups (VPGs)

  • Review the status of your Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BCDR) configuration

  • Test, move, and fail-over your configuration

  • Access Zerto documentation for reference and guidance on use

To access the Zerto Virtual Replication online documentation, click the menu icon in the upper right corner of the Zerto Virtual Replication interface and select Help. Zerto launches its help file in a separate browser tab.

NCD VMs and vApps configured for replication have the "Replication" feature tag and therefore may be found through global search. If you search for tag:Replication, the search results list VMs and vApps that have replication configured. Click any listed object to navigate to its detail.
