There are currently two ways to create a vApp template:

• Templatizing an existing vApp from Navisite Cloud Director.
  
• Uploading one from vCD.

Creating a Template from an Existing vApp

1. At the appropriate vDataCenter detail page, scroll down to the "Children" section and click vApps. The vApps page appears.


2. In the vApps page list, locate and click on the name of the desired vApp (i.e., the vApp to be used as the basis for the new vApp template). The vApp detail page appears.


3. On the vApp's detail page, click Create Template.
   


4. The “Create Template” form will appear, which requires a name, as well as the selection of a catalog. The vApp template must be unique within the catalog.


5. Click Create Template to begin the process of capturing the vApp. The new template will appear in the catalog when its creation is finished.

Uploading a Template through vCD

From vCD, you can upload an OVF package from remote shares and your local directory as a vApp template in a catalog.
