Proximity – Managing Maintenance Windows

Your Proximity dashboard provides a maintenance window Calendar, displaying a calendar view detailing your scheduled maintenance windows, and a list view of maintenance windows for the current date.



Hover your mouse cursor over dates in the calendar to view summary counts of maintenance windows for each day of the displayed month.

Click a calendar entry to display that date's scheduled maintenance windows in the list view to the right of the calendar.

You can search and filter the maintenance window list using the search field and filter drop-down above the list.

Click a maintenance window list entry to navigate to its Maintenance Window Details page, detailed below.

Creating New Maintenance Windows

To create a new Maintenance Window using Proximity:
  1. Click CREATE NEW in the persistent header at the top of the page, and select "Maintenance" from the resulting menu. The Create New Maintenance Window page appears.



  2. Click the "Start Date" field, and use the date/time selector to set the desired start date and time values for the maintenance window, in mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM/PM format.

  3. Click the "End Date" field, use the date/time selector to set the desired end date and time for the maintenance window, in mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM/PM format.

  4. Enter a description of the maintenance window in the "Description" field. Include any necessary or helpful details.

  5. Select one or more configuration items associated with the maintenance window from the "Configuration Items" list by clicking the associated checkbox(es). To filter the list of available configuration items according to type or data center, select the desired filter value from the drop-down menu above the list.

    Note: Selecting configuration items that are associated with other maintenance windows during the same time period may result in an error message.

  6. Click CREATE MAINTENANCE WINDOW to create the maintenance window, or CANCEL to cancel the operation.

  7. The new maintenance window appears on the Support page "Maintenance Windows" tab, detailed below.

Viewing Maintenance Windows and Maintenance Details

Maintenance windows are listed on the "Maintenance Windows" tab of the Proximity Support page. To view your maintenance windows:
  1. Click Support in the Proximity navigation pane at the left side of the page.

  2. Select the "Maintenance Windows" tab.

Filtering and Searching Your Maintenance Windows

To filter your list to display all maintenance windows, only open maintenance windows, or only closed maintenance windows, select All Windows, Open Windows, or Closed Windows from the drop-down menu above the list. By default, the list displays open maintenance windows.

To filter your list of maintenance windows according to a date range or time period containing their start dates, click the "Date range" field above the list. The Date range pop-up window appears.



To perform a real-time search of your maintenance windows:
  • Enter the desired search terms in the "Search" field above the list. Proximity automatically filters the displayed list based on your entered search terms. You can search and filter your list based on any of the displayed column values in the list.

    OR

  • Select "Maintenance Windows" from the "Search" field drop-down list in the persistent header at the top of the Proximity page, and enter your desired search terms in the "Search" field. You can search and filter your list based on any of the maintenance window's displayed column values.

Cancelling or Closing Maintenance Windows

To cancel an upcoming maintenance window, or close an in-progress maintenance window from the "Maintenance Windows" tab, click CANCEL or CLOSE EARLY to the right of the desired maintenance window entry, and confirm the operation in the resulting pop-up window. The cancelled/closed maintenance window will be removed from the "Maintenance Windows" tab.

Note: Only Maintenance Windows with a "Type" value of "Maintenance" can be cancelled or closed.

Viewing Maintenance Window Details

To view a maintenance window's details, click the desired entry in the "Maintenance Windows" tab list. The Maintenance Window Details page appears.



Configuration items associated with the maintenance window are listed in the "Configuration Items" list. Click any list entry to view the item's CI Details page.

Editing the Maintenance Window Details

To edit the maintenance window's details:
  1. Click EDIT MAINTENANCE at the bottom of the page.

  2. Click the "Start Date" field, and use the date/time selector to set the desired start date and time values for the maintenance window, in mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM/PM format.

  3. Note: Start dates cannot be edited for Maintenance Windows that are currently in progress.

  4. Click the "End Date" field, and use the date/time selector to set the desired ending date and time values for the maintenance window, in mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM/PM format.

  5. Enter a description of the maintenance window in the "Description" field. Include any necessary or helpful details.

  6. Select one or more configuration items associated with the maintenance window from the "Configuration Items" list by clicking the associated checkbox(es). To filter the list of available configuration items according to type or data center, select the desired filter value from the drop-down menu above the list.

  7. Note: Configuration Items cannot be edited for Maintenance Windows that are currently in progress.

  8. Click UPDATE MAINTENANCE WINDOW to save your changes, or CANCEL to cancel the operation. The updated maintenance window details are reflected in its corresponding columns on the "Maintenance Windows" tab.

Cancelling or Closing the Maintenance Window

To cancel an upcoming maintenance window, or close an in-progress maintenance window, click CANCEL or CLOSE EARLY at the bottom of the page, and confirm the operation in the resulting pop-up window. The cancelled/closed maintenance window will be removed from the "Maintenance Windows" tab.

Note: Only Maintenance Windows with a "Type" value of "Maintenance" can be cancelled or closed.
