Proximity – Admin Operations
The Proximity Admin page allows you to:
- Create and maintain Proximity user profiles
- View your ITSM event notification routing rules
Creating & Maintaining Proximity User Profiles
The "Users" tab of the Proximity Admin page allows you to…- view a summary of your users.
- invite new users to access Proximity and establish their profiles.
- examine the configuration details of any listed user.
- edit a user profile, if allowed by your permissions.
- Click Admin in the Proximity navigation pane at the left side of the page.
- Select the "Users" tab.
The "Users" tab list is populated with your existing ITSM contact records.
- User Status conditions include Active, Invited, Unregistered, and Non-Proximity.
- Invite a contact with "Non-Proximity" status to Proximity by clicking INVITE in the rightmost column.
- Send a follow-up invitation by clicking RE-INVITE in the rightmost column.
- Delete a user with "Active," "Invited," or "Unregistered" status by clicking DELETE in the rightmost column.
- Click the table’s column headers to sort the "Users" list by user Name, Title, Email address, or Status condition (the user Phone number column is not sortable).
- To perform a real-time search on your contact records, enter the desired search terms in the "Search" field above the list. Proximity automatically filters the displayed list based on your entered search terms. You can search and filter your list based on any of the displayed column values in the list.
- To download your displayed contact record list as a comma-separated value (CSV) file, click the Download icon above the list. The CSV file contains the list data as it is currently displayed in the list (i.e., any search and filter operations performed on the list are reflected in the downloaded file).
- To display or hide columns in your list of contact records, click the Select Table Columns icon above the list. The Select Table Columns pop-up window appears.
Click to select or deselect the desired table column names for the displayed list, and click SET COLUMNS to change the list display.
Inviting New Users
At the Admin page, click Invite New User to initiate creation of a new user profile.Specify the user’s First and Last Name and Email address, and click SEND INVITE.
Proximity sends an email invitation to the user with enrollment instructions, an access URL, and the ability to establish initial login credentials.
New users are configured by default to have read-only permission to view the following:
- Configuration Items
- Changes
- Incidents
- Maintenance Windows
- Users
Viewing and Editing User Profiles
In the Admin page "Users" table, click a user line item to view the user's profile:The user Profile page includes:
- The user's Status condition (Active, Invited, or Unregistered)
- User contact email address(es) and phone number(s).
- Permission settings for performing numerous specified actions in the following areas:
- Infrastructure
- Support
- Billing
- Administration
Click Edit Profile to edit and update the user's profile. The Update User page appears.
Note: A user's personal information (e.g., name, phone number) can only be changed by that user. When editing another user's profile, only permissions can be changed.
- Specify any edits to user profile text using the First and Last Name, Title, and Phone fields.

- Using the Permissions checkboxes, select actions to be allowed for the user. User permissions can be set for Changes, Incidents, Maintenance Windows, Configuration Items, Invoices, Users, and Azure Data.
- Click Update User to submit the edits for validation and approval.
Viewing Routing Rules
The "Routing Rules" tab of the Proximity Admin page allows you to view a list of your organization's ITSM event notification routing rules. To do so:- Click Admin in the Proximity navigation pane at the left side of the page.
- Select the "Routing Rules" tab.
The "Routing Rules" tab list provides the following information for each rule:
- Rule Name
- Business Unit
- Devices
- Events
- Days of Week
- Action
- Name
- Phone
Filtering and Searching Your Routing Rules
- To perform a real-time search on your routing rules, enter the desired search terms in the "Search" field above the list. Proximity automatically filters the displayed list based on your entered search terms. You can search and filter your list based on any of the displayed column values in the list.
- To change the displayed order of your rules according to a particular column value, click the up/down arrow icons to the right of the desired column header.
- To filter your rule list to include or exclude items with a particular column value, click the Filter icon to the left of the desired column header. In the resulting pop-up window, select/deselect the column value checkboxes as desired.
Downloading Your List of Routing Rules
To download your displayed list as a comma-separated value (CSV) file, click the Download icon above the list. The CSV file contains the list data as it is currently displayed in the list (i.e., any search and filter operations performed on the list are reflected in the downloaded file).Displaying/Hiding List Columns
