NCD – About Tags

Tags are keywords that you can use to identify or logically group similar objects. Tags are useful in finding items using the universal search, or a table’s filter. Tags are also useful when working with custom views, since you can add tags as filters to narrow the result set.

User-defined tags, shown in light green boxes at the top of an object's Detail page, can be added to:
  • vDataCenters (vDCs)

  • vDC networks

  • vApps

  • vApp networks

  • VMs

  • vApp templates

  • media

  • physical assets

See Adding or Removing Tags for details on using tags in your Navisite Cloud Director environment.

Feature Tags

Navisite Cloud Director automatically applies informational "feature tags" to objects, displayed in a dark green color.

Feature tags are not customizable. They are simply visual indicators that an object has certain features associated with it (e.g., feature tags are applied when an object is defined with a Public Service behavior, is part of a replicated virtual environment, has high performance storage, or is backed up).

Click a feature tag to navigate directly to the portion of the object's configuration at which the feature is defined.

Tags and feature tags are searchable through the system's universal search facility.

Asset Type Feature Tags

NCD automatically applies feature tags to assets indicating the asset type. Such tags are displayed in the dark green feature tag color. Asset type feature tags are visual informational indicators only, not navigational links. Physical assets are included in asset type tagging. Example asset type feature tags include "Server," "Network interface card," and "RAID storage device."
