NCD – What is a Task?

A task is a system event which takes place behind the scenes and does not complete instantaneously. Some tasks may cause related operations to be unavailable until the task finishes.

A Task’s object is the item on which the task was performed. The object can be of any type: catalog item, vApp, VM, network, etc.

Powering off a VM is an example of a task.
