NCD – Monitoring Tasks in Navisite Cloud Director

Navisite Cloud Director tasks can be monitored as follows:

Monitoring Recent Tasks

Clicking the Recent Tasks icon in the upper right corner of the page displays the "Recent Tasks" panel, which presents information about tasks that have occurred in the last 24 hours, including any that are currently in progress.

The panel primarily displays information about tasks initiated and performed on behalf of your user ID; but also displays system-level tasks which may have been initiated by other users.

Click an object's name to display the object's Detail page.

Click a task title to view detailed information for a specific task, including the task Status, the Object name, the vCloud in which the object resides, the User that initiated the task, the object's Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) value, and the Start and End date and time values for the task.

Monitoring Tasks for a Specific Object

Certain Navisite Cloud Director objects (e.g., networks, vApps, and VMs) provide task monitoring specific to the object.

To view object-specific tasks, navigate to the object's Detail page, scroll down to the "Current Status" section and click Task History.

Clicking the Recent Tasks button above the table displays all tasks for the object that have occurred in the past 24 hours. Clicking the All Tasks button displays all tasks for the object without date or time limits.

When All Tasks is selected, a simple query builder is provided for filtering. Use the query builder to filter the displayed tasks by specifying values for the task's Username, Status, and/or Start Date/Time. Click +Add Filter to add multiple filter values.

Successfully completed tasks display a green checkmark in the "Status" column. Tasks that were not successful display a red X and an "info" icon in the "Status" column. Clicking the "info" icon displays information about the error.

Click a task title in the "Action" column to view detailed information for a specific task, as detailed above.

Monitoring Tasks for Your Organization

Navisite Cloud Director users with the "Administrator" user role can click TASK HISTORY in the "Admin" section of the navigation pane on the left side of the Dashboard page to view NCD tasks for their organization.

Clicking the Recent Tasks button above the table displays all tasks for the organization that have occurred in the past 24 hours. Clicking the All Tasks button displays all tasks for the organization without date or time limits.

If your organization exists in more than one vCloud, tasks are displayed according to vCloud instance, and a selector control above the table allows you to display tasks for a different vCloud.
